Torra Barn

20170201_144202

Torra Barn, above Turton Tower and Chapeltown

A stretch of old track joining Turton Tower with the Bolton to Blackburn road contours around the hillside above Wayoh Reservoir and Chapeltown. Heading up the hill a tarmac track leads to Torra Barn,  a 17th century dwelling on the edge of Turton Golf Course. More interestingly it is below the Bronze Age stone circle complex on Cheetham Close.

After conversion, the barn was renamed as Torra Manor by an estate agent, perhaps trying to push the price up to recover the rather costly refurbishment.

We took the dog for a walk along the track to Turton, part of the Witton Weavers Way. With the sun dropping behind the bare trees the barn looked isolated and remote. This view up to the barn reminded me of the sinister views one gets around Pendle Witch country.
