Deer on West Pennine Moors

20170207_143739A regular walk from our house is up through Barrow Bridge onto Scout Road. Yesterday we enjoyed the clear afternoon, well wrapped up for the bracing icy wind. The keen eyes of our sight-hound Luna spotted them first, she frooze as soon as she saw the small herd of Roe Deer on the fields above Cunliffes Farm.

We have seen the occasional deer in the fields above Barrow Bridge, but this was a large gathering for this side of the moors.

The hastly grabbed photo from the phone does not have the definition to zoom in too far, but just to prove the point, there they are, a dozen deer. The Sight-Hound was excited naturally, we had a job to regain her attention for the walk  back home.
